Barbara Ozieblo is the author of Susan Glaspell: A Critical Biography, published by North Carolina Press (Chapel Hill) in 2000. She is the co-founder and President of the Susan Glaspell Society. Her publications include The Provincetown Players: A Choice of the Shorter Works (Sheffield Academic Press, 1994); “Avant-Garde and Modernist. Women Dramatists of the Provincetown Players; Bryant, Davies and Millay,” Journal of American Drama and Theatre, 16:2, Spring 2004, 1-16; “Susan Glaspell and the Modernist Experiment of Chains of Dew” in Susan Glaspell: New Critical Inquiry edited by Martha Carpentier (Cambridge: Cambridge Scholars Press, 2006, 7-24; “Silenced Mothers and Questing Daughters in Susan Glaspell’s Mature Novels” in Martha Carpentier and Barbara Ozieblo, eds. Disclosing Intertextualities: The Stories, Plays and Novels of Susan Glaspell, Amsterdam: Rodopi, 2006, 137-58. Apart from her work on Glaspell and American women playwrights, Ozieblo is preparing a joint biography of Gamel Woolsey and Alyse Gregory and has published “Alyse Gregory, Scofield Thayer, and the Dial,” Twentieth-Century Literature 48:4, Winter 2002, 487-507, and “The Poet Gamel Woolsey: The Creation of a Mythical Middle-Earth,” The Powys Journal, XIII, 2003, 53-76.

Professor Titular of American literature at the University of Málaga, Spain, since 1986, Ozieblo teaches graduate programs in Women’s Studies and American Women Dramatists, and undergraduate courses in American Literature and American Drama. She organized the international conferences “The Political and the Personal in American Drama” (2000) and “Acting America” (2004) at the University of Málaga, and edited selections of essays that resulted from the papers and following discussions: Staging a Cultural Paradigm: The Political and the Personal in American Drama (2002) and Codifying the National Self: Spectators, Actors and the American Dramatic Text, (2006) both published by P.I.E.-Peter Lang (Brussels). She is the International Secretary for the American Theatre and Drama Society (ATDS) and was Treasurer of the Spanish Association for American Studies (SAAS) from 1999-2007.
